Welcome to the first event of the revived Edinburgh Mobile Dev meetup 🎉
We're excited to bring together the mobile developer community in Edinburgh for our first session of the year. We've prepared two excellent talks (one Android and one iOS) for you at a great location - Bellfield Brewery. What goes better with a tech talk than great craft beer 🍻
► Agenda 📅
🍕 6:00pm - 6:30pm: Pizza, beer and networking
🎤 6:30pm - 7:00pm: Talk 1 by Ryan Anderson
🎤 7:00pm - 7:30pm: Talk 2 by Mike Velu
🍺 7:30pm - onwards: Continued networking and chat. We've got the space until 10pm.
Waracle Digital Academy and Waracle are delighted to sponsor this first Edinburgh Mobile Dev meetup of 2020. One of our own very talented team is speaking at the event and we know he'll bring a lot of good chat, fun and expertise to the table. Enjoy the beers and bring on 2020! #WaracleDigitalAcademy
► The Talks 🎤
👉Talk 1: "Organising chaos: Adapting architectures to deal with anything!" by Ryan Anderson
We often see blog posts about the hottest new mobile architecture, promising to be the answer to all our problems. How should you choose? We'll talk about the challenges of architecting a really complicated screen such as a chat as a way of illustrating the process for any app!
About me: I'm the Lead Engineer at Flick, I've spent a lot of the last few years building mobile chat experiences that scale and are easy to use!

👉Talk 2: "The User Is Just Another Input, TDD View Models using RxSwift" by Mike Velu
We'll look at how we can design our view models as functions to which the user is just an input. We'll design the public API in our tests, and eventually plug the view model into a simple list view with things like pull to refresh and error handling.
About me: Senior iOS Developer at Waracle, specialising in Rx for the last 2 years. Constantly learning, currently tinkering with Elixir & the BEAM outside of work.
