Hacking/Cyber

Glasgow 2600 meetings are similar to those held around the world. Hackers, crackers, geeks, hats of any colour, technology enthusiasts, hacktivists, and other like-minded folks are most welcome. We do not judge anyone and everyone has something to contribute, no matter their level of expertise.
Unless specified, there are no particular topics or activities set for these meetings, and each one of us is responsible for making them interesting, whether in the form of intelligent discussions or exchange of knowledge. Anything goes.

2600 Meetings exist as a forum for all interested in technology to meet and talk about events in technology-land, learn, and teach. Meetings are open to anyone of any age or level of expertise.

We're passionate about security, as are you.
We want to invite the security community in Scotland to engage 5 or 6 times a year to discuss all things security. A informal forum to share ideas, make contacts, encourage debate.
Our MeetUps will 100% NOT be sales-led. There will be no vendors, no sponsors, no obligation to talk to anyone, nor cost any money to attend.
They will be hosted at a number of venues, but there will be no hosting-company focus, we merely organise and host the events, with a choice of speakers as well as the obligatory refreshments!

DEF CON Groups are a gathering point for folks interested in the alternate applications of modern technology, referred to properly as 'hacking'. DCGs are not intended to compete with any other computer groups, such as 2600, but rather to provide yet another gathering place for the discussion of technology and security topics. DCG meetings are open to anyone, regardless of their skill, age, job, gender, etc. DCGs are designed to help you learn new things, meet new people, mentor others in areas you may be strong in, and provide some cohesion within the hacker culture and its members,

We are a not-for-profit group based in Edinburgh. We aim to promote the use of Linux, other Open Source tools and provide user help in a convivial setting, through talks, demos and related volunteer-led activities.
Meetings are held monthly except in August due to the festival.
