Scotland is going green! The Scottish Government aims to meet 100% of electricity demand from renewable energy by 2020 and in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen the buzz about new markets for urban and rural sustainability is now attracting entrepreneurs from around the globe to join in on this low carbon revolution.
Scotland also prides itself on a rich culture of business angels, sophisticated investors and high net-worth individuals who are eager to invest in new ideas. But where can green investors and entrepreneurs come together to turn good ideas into commercial successes?
Modelled on the success of Informatics Ventures’ 'Tech Meetup', Green Tech Meetup aims to provide a relaxed and informal space for entrepreneurs to present their ideas to an audience of their peers and to experienced investors (and to drink free beer and eat free pizza). Hosted by the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI) on South College Street, Green Tech Meetups are free and open to anyone and everyone from around Scotland with an interest in building the sector and wants to join in.
If you're new to the market, have an idea for a green-minded company, are an established entrepreneur looking for investment, Green Tech Meetups will provide you with a place to get to know like-minded people with a passion for making a difference through business.
