We’re excited to announce our first meet-up - on Thursday 18th October at Graham & Brown’s Design Centre in Blackburn.

We’ve got an awesome lineup of speakers, including Rob Scott from the BBC who will introduce a high-level taxonomy of Cross-Reality UX patterns, along with a framework to help decide which interactions make sense based on the story you’re trying to tell.

Andy Lord (CEO) and Stuart Kirby (Next Gen Talent Director) of Code Nation will be talking about how their developer bootcamp is creating the future talent of tomorrow.

The Graham & Brown App team will also talk about the challenges of developing their first mobile app for iOS with augmented reality using ARKit, Xamarin and Microsoft Azure!

There’ll be food and drinks provided, free parking and you’ll get a chance to play on our Microsoft HoloLens. This month’s meet-up is kindly sponsored by Code Nation (wearecodenation.com).

Rob Scott is a User Experience Architect at the BBC, currently working within BBC Education on products such as BBC Food and BBC Bitesize. He previously worked on the BBC’s ‘Global Experience Language’ (GEL) team, as well as products for internet-enabled big screen devices, including the pre-Rio Olympics refresh of the Red Button+ service.

Budget Innovation - Building an augmented reality app on a budget

In technology, innovation is traditionally thought of as an expensive process, especially with the headlines from lots of large companies like Amazon through to Marks and Spencers investing heavily in R&D labs and creating dedicated teams. Hear how Graham and Brown worked with students, interns and their own in-house team to deliver a ground breaking Augmented Reality app that solved an age old business problem for under £50k.

Community members asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately.

If a community member engages in harassing behavior, the Lancashire Tech Talks organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender, expulsion from the Lancashire Tech Talks community, and/or removal from an event. If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact an Lancashire Tech Talks organiser immediately, or as soon as you feel comfortable doing so.
