BCS Glasgow & West of Scotland: BCS Glasgow: Eye tracking. Past, present & future

The history of eye tracking is longer than most people realise, yet the technology is still very much in its infancy. This talk will look at the origins of eye tracking before the days of computing, the current state of the technology and the promises of consumer ready equipment in the not too distant future. Beyond the technology, uses will be explored from academic research through corporate analysis and edging into the leisure market.

About the speaker: Calum Andrew Morrell gained a degree in computing at GCU before developing databases for Telecom Sciences Corporation Ltd then acting as a Windows NT Server Technical Design Specialist through the mid to late ‘90s. Since early 2002 he has been running Stropharia with a focus on User eXperience and related tools, eye tracking being one small part – though distinctly the most fun!
