This month we'll be welcoming:

Alex McLean - Strudel

Alex will talk about Strudel - a platform to write dynamic music pieces in the browser - as a live, Javascript domain specific language for time-based arts, going into the backstory of its origins in the Haskell-based tidalcycles environment, try to explain its pure functional innards, and some of the things it's been used for.

Alfred Renn - How and why you should make your own font

Much time is spent defining the exact layout of websites. Much tinkering is tinkered with the colours. But many spend five minutes browsing Google Fonts to choose a typeface that will last forever. I will explore fonts from a personable perspective, suggest alternatives to Google Fonts, explain why I like typefaces, and describe how you can make your own font.

Post-meetup social
After the talks we'll head to socialise at the nearby Triple Point Brewery + Bar. They serve a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, plus food from Twisted Burger Co. See triplepointbrewing.co.uk for more details.
