dotnetsheff: SharePoint with Gosia Borzecka & Localisation with Shane Bluemel

October's event will be split in to two parts, Gosia Borzecka will present on Overview of SharePoint Framework and the second half will be Shane Bluemel presenting on Internationalisation and Localisation.

Overview of SharePoint Framework with Gosia Borzecka

About a year ago Microsoft announced a SharePoint Framework (SPFx) - a new way of development for SharePoint Online.

Now you can use your own machine with your favorite OS and just write the client-side web part. You don't even need to have an O365 subscription because you can test your code on localhost. What to know more? Just come to this session for Overview of SPFx.

Gosia Borzecka is a full stack developer with a .NET background. From last half a year she works as SharePoint developer. She is also a co-founder of NottsDevWorkshop.co.uk.

Internationalisation and Localisation in .NET with Shane Bluemel

Today’s technology providers should expect their applications to be used by consumers across the globe who have different cultural backgrounds and languages. But what kind of experience are you giving them?

From the more obvious problems of date/time formats to the less well-known issues, we will discuss how you can prepare your software for the global market, avoid common mistakes, and what you can do to help translators localise your software.

This talk does not use any fancy frameworks or plugins, just basic C# with a bit of experience.

Shane is a C# and C++ software developer with over 15 years’ experience. 10 of those years were spent writing software for the localisation industry at Trados GmbH and SDL International.
