edPUG - Edinburgh PHP User Group: edPUG Feb 2017 (Video) - PHP 7: What Kind of Language is it?

For the first edPUG in 2017, we have a new more central venue in CivTech’s office in CodeBase, so we hope to see some new faces! We’ll also be showing a CivTech introduction video.

For those who have not been to the Edinburgh PHP User Group before, we are a welcoming bunch of people and love when new people turn up. When we don’t have a talk we are just as happy watching a conference video together, so for February we’ve lined up a great PHP video that should help you tell your friends and colleagues how flexible and pragmatic PHP really is!

Video from IPC16 | PHP 7: What Kind of Language is it?

PHP 7 is an imperative programming language that supports procedural as well as object-oriented programming. It has limited support for functional programming and language extensions for aspect-oriented programming exist. PHP 7 is dynamically, implicitly, and weakly typed but supports explicit typing and strict type checking when desired. But what does this all mean? Watch the video recorded at the International PHP Conference 2016 in Asia where Sebastian Bergmann gave a whirlwind tour through the interesting land of programming language design principles and find out just what a great language PHP is.

Please enter CodeBase using the Lady Lawson Street entrance, and make your way to floor L using the lift or stairs.

We will try and greet you by the entrance and on floor L.
