The Freedom of Information Act deserves to be celebrated for making possible the birth and growth of the Open Data movement over the last decade. It has also been crucial for enabling journalists to write important, if sometimes uncomfortable, stories about the workings of government.

Nevertheless, new questions are arising:

* Is the information disclosed under FOIA is accessible as it could be?
* How can Open Government Data policies best be integrated with FOI disclosure?
* Can FOI disclosure logs help us understand what types of data are most in demand?
* Is greater 'data literacy' necessary for both the media and the public to understand the potential and limitations of data?

We are holding a one-day workshop to address these issues, and we aim to bring together people working on FOI, on journalism, and on open data.
