Colin Gray, Data Scientist, TIBCO
Colin Gray is a data scientist working for TIBCO within their global data science team. As part of TIBCO's partnership with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One, Colin plays an active role working with the team and TIBCO's own Formula 1 simulator. In general, his career in data analytics, modelling and data science has spanned over 20 years having worked in multiple industries. Talk summary:
Data Science is having an increasing impact in sports. TIBCO actively supports teams such as Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One, TIBCO-Silicon Valley Women’s cycling and the NFL. In this talk we cover our partnership with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One team as well as demonstrate with our own Formula One simulator how TIBCO technologies are used to analyse lap performance, predict lap times and the likelihood of a crash occurrence. We will give live demonstrations of the data science we use, as well as discuss the full data science life cycle from how we analyse lap data from our simulator, to building models, model deployment and taking action from the findings.
