This April we explore the world of making.\n\nSpeakers include:\n\nDominic Wilc ox [Artist\, Designer & 'Thinkeruper']\n\nDominic Wilcox is an artist\, de signer\, inventor and 'thinkeruper' who works within the territory of the 'everyday'. Everyday objects\, environments\, buildings\, human interactio n\, no area of normality is out of reach. His work\, which is usually laye red with an ultra dry wit\, places a spotlight on the banal\, always addin g a new\, alternative perspective on things we take for granted. His work has been exhibited worldwide and sold in shops such as Moss in New York an d Selfridges London. He has been commissioned to create artwork by people such as Nike\, Esquire magazine and Helena Christensen' charities. @domini cwilcox\n\nFi Scott (Founder of Make Works)\n\nFi is the founder of Make W orks\, a design-led organisation that facilitates and celebrates local mak ing and manufacture. They recently undertook the Make Works Tour\, a 90day road trip across the whole of Scotland finding and filming 120 factories. Currently\, Make Works are using this information gathered to develop a d igital directory of industry in Scotland. Fi is inspired by the value of m aking\, local production and craftsmanship\, fascinated by materials and m achines. She trained as a product designer at Glasgow School of Art and ha s previously worked as a designer in Philadelphia\, Brooklyn and Scotland for companies such as DMFD\, Design Philadelphia Festival\, Ben Dawson Fur niture and MAKLab. @thisismakeworks\, #makeworkstour\n\nKate Pickering (D irector Vanilla Ink)\n\nKate is the founding director of Vanilla Ink\, Sco tland's unique incubator space for start-up jewellers. Vanilla Ink aims to bridge the gap from education to industry by providing a one year course with access to a fully equipped workshop\, monthly professional developmen t workshops and presentations from industry professionals\, tailored one t o one mentoring and a series of events\, exhibitions and networking opport unites. Kate provides a framework for the fledging designers to work on th eir craft\, learn from others and to make mistakes in a collaborative\, op en environment. Kate's is driven by the hope of opening up the jewellery i ndustry by providing a network of makers who communicate and support each other which will no doubt strengthen the industry and beyond. @vanillainkU K\n\nRosamund West [Editor-in-Chief The Skinny]\n\nRosamund is the Editor- in-chief of The Skinny\, an arts and culture magazine that publishes month ly editions in Scotland and the Northwest of England. She has an MA in scu lpture and art history from Edinburgh\, during the course of which she wro te down everything she learned from Heat magazine over a six month period while also researching the depiction of the veil in contemporary near east ern art. She has written for a variety of publications ranging from the Gu ardian to MAP\, and organises exhibitions with a focus on emerging Scottis h art in venues that have recently included Glasgow's CCA and Edinburgh's Whitespace.
