Open Rights Group Brighton: 'Take Back The Net' Talk with Wendy M. Grossman

Hi everyone!

We're kicking off local Open Rights Group activity in Brighton as we gear up for the general election and asking our future MPs to support digital rights. More about ORG here: www.openrightsgroup.org

ORG Brighton members are invited to a talk by journalist, blogger and digital rights activist Wendy M. Grossman (www.theguardian.com) as she talks about how we can act to 'Take Back The Net':

The pioneers embedded values of openness, democracy, sharing, and access into their network designs, and yet somehow the Internet has become, in Bruce Schneier's words "a giant surveillance platform" as security services, advertisers, and data brokers all seek to grab as much as they can about all of us.

What can we do about it?

There will be a talk followed by a break, then a Q&A with questions from the audience. Non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks are on us during the break!

This event is free entry and open to the public. You do not have to be an ORG member to attend, just interested!

Please do let us know if you will be there or if you sign up and realise you can't make it - that way we can let others on the waiting list know. There's a limited capacity and this is a popular event! :)

Thanks!
