Open Rights Group London: Jennifer Gibson - bringing justice on drone strikes

Edit: Unfortunately Jennifer can't make it anymore as she has to travel on this date for a case she's working on. However her colleague Omran Belhadi has kindly agreed to speak instead. He works on looking at the links between drones and surveillance from a corporate complicity angle, and I'm really happy that he's available to give this talk.Ruth

If you came to ORGCon, our annual conference, last year you'd have seen an incredible 10 minute talk from Jennifer Gibson, Reprieve, speaking on the topic of drone strikes. Her moving speech was much spoken about afterwards, with many people telling us that they'd have liked to hear more - and others sad that they missed it. Well, now is your chance.

We've invited Jennifer back to give us a longer talk on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, being used by the USA to kill citizens in Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen, in the name of counter-terrorism. Reprieve, believe that the CIA’s drones programme is the death penalty without trial and work to represent the families of victims in seeking legal justice and accountability.

Jennifer Gibson will expand on her previous talk about how Reprieve are challenging the use of drones work and the way technology can be used to supersede the justice system.

There'll be plenty of time for questions on this topics, and to catch up with each other afterwards, and say hello to new faces.

The room space is booked from 7.00 with the talk starting at 7.30pm.
