E-Club: Edinburgh International Science Festival Overview

The E Club is delighted to host Dr. Simon Gage OBE, Director of the Edinburgh International Science Festival, as part of our E Club at the Festival series. This is the third in a series of three events run by the Entrepreneurship Club at the Edinburgh Festival which will focus on three different creative organisations based in Edinburgh.

Simon Gage trained as a physicist at the Universities of Bristol (BSc), Dundee (MSc) and Edinburgh (PhD) and gained an executive MBA from Oxford University. After obtaining his PhD at the University of Edinburgh, Simon joined the Edinburgh International Science Festival in 1990 and a year later established the now highly popular Schools Touring Programme which in 2009/10 toured to 60,000 pupils across Scotland. He became Festival Director in 1994 and has established the Festival as a growing enterprise that has an international reputation. Under his directorship, in 2011 the Edinburgh International Science Festival worked with the Abu Dhabi government to launch a very large scale science festival in Abu Dhabi that has become an annual part of the Abu Dhabi cultural scene. Simon was awarded an OBE for science communication in 2011.

In the event of no-shows on the night we shall allow unticketed entry for a limited number of people from just before the start time of the show. If you do not have a ticket simply arrive in good time at the venue where you will be asked to form a queue and entry will be granted on a first come first served basis.
